The Asian Peoples’ Movement on Debt and Development, the NGO Forum on ADB, and affected communities marched to the Asian Development Bank Office in the Philippines to protest the bank’s destructive fossil fuel agenda.
Outside the venue of the 21st Asia Clean Energy Forum (ACEF), civil society and communities slammed the ADB’s 2025 Energy Policy Review, which retains fossil gas as a “transition fuel” without a clear phase-out pathway and opens the door to nuclear energy, carbon capture, co-firing, and expanded critical mineral extraction.
APMDD and its allies demand that the ADB
end all direct and indirect fossil fuel financing reject nuclear energy financing halt support for false solutions such as waste-to-energy incinerators and large-scale projects prohibit extractive mining without binding safeguards and indigenous consent and prioritize public and community-led renewable systems over private sector-driven models
