APMDD and members of international civil society mobilized outside the 9th Board Meeting of the Fund for Responding to Loss and Damage (FRLD) at the Asian Development Bank Headquarters in Metro Manila, Philippines. They urged developed countries to deliver on existing pledges and commit trillions in climate reparations to the Global South.
Half a year since the first call for funding requests was launched at COP30, 176 requests from developing countries are now in the pipeline, totaling $2.8 billion.
Coordinator Lidy Nacpil said: “The status report shows an enormous gap between the demands of developing countries and the finance that developed countries are willing to provide. The $2.8 billion requested is 11 times the funds allocated to the pilot phase, which ends this year, proving that the finance available lags behind the demand and even further behind actual need, which exceeds $400 billion annually and amounts to trillions over time.”
