TAGUIG, Philippines — Earlier today, PMCJ, Oriang, Sanlakas, and APMDD stormed the World Bank office in Bonifacio Global City to demand accountability for the harm and crisis due to decades of fossil fuel financing and called for cancellation of all illegitimate debts.

The protest coincided with the IMF-World Bank Spring Meetings, highlighting a blatant lack of transparency regarding coal-related harms. Demonstrators from various civil society organizations criticized the financial institutions, specifically concerning the suppression of reports detailing necessary remedial actions at coal sites.

The protest highlights growing regional tension over the International Finance Corporation’s (IFC) refusal to release critical data, which advocates argue is essential for holding commercial lenders accountable for climate impacts.
