APMDD at Financing the Future: Aligning Finance with the Promise of the Paris Agreement (A Parliamentary Forum)

New York City, NY [21 Sept 2024] – A high-level forum organized by Parliamentarians for a Fossil Free Future in coordination with the Rainforest Action Network and Asian Peoples’ Movement on Debt and Development brought together influential parliamentarians, frontline leaders, UN officials, and fossil finance experts in New York City last September 21, 2024. The event amplified the urgent call for a shift away from fossil fuels and towards a just, clean energy future.

The forum shed light on how financial institutions, particularly Wall Street, contribute to climate chaos and examined the severe impacts of fossil fuel expansion on frontline communities. Participants also explored the role of parliamentarians in the transition to fossil-free finance and discussed what it takes to realign financial flows with the goals of the Paris Agreement.
